Glossary
The language of the work.
A short reference for terms used across Nohm’s product pages.
01
Scenario
A defined set of assumptions and conditions used to explore an energy-system question. A scenario is not a prediction or a guarantee.
02
Substrate
The aligned data foundation used across workflows: carriers, geography, markets, sectors and time-related assumptions.
03
Carrier
An energy form or vector represented in a study, such as electricity, hydrogen, gas or heat. The actual carrier set depends on model scope.
04
Granularity
The level of detail in a model, including geography, assets and time resolution. More detail changes data requirements and computation.
05
Climate year
A set of weather-related conditions used to explore how demand and renewable resources affect a scenario.
06
Run and lineage
A run is an execution or recorded analytical operation. Lineage connects its results to inputs, versions, assumptions and subsequent transformations.
07
Levelised cost
A cost-per-unit measure calculated under a defined methodology and assumption set. LCOE refers to electricity; LCOH commonly refers to hydrogen.
08
Approval gate
A point at which a proposed action needs authorisation before it proceeds. Interpretation of a request is not itself approval.
09
Atlas
Nohm’s map-led view of energy-system evidence. A visual display should be interpreted with its source, date and geographical scope.
10
Studio
A workspace for a class of tasks, such as analysis, visualisation or reporting, subject to product availability and user permissions.
